2010 Bands and Performers

The Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games has been blessed with spectacular Performers and Entertainers for the past ten years. Our 11th year is no exception!!

The Glengarry Bhoys

Described as bold, unorthodox, vibrant, and evocative, the "GLENGARRY BHOYS" hybrid of Canadian Highland Scots and French Canadian musical idioms has evolved into a sound that is weighty, authoritative, and extremely entertaining.

Their energy and good humor, as much a part of the show as their musicianship, crosses all cultures and ages. Many things have been written and reported about this world renown Canadian alt-celt group over that last decade, all depicting their musical and entertaining prowess with varied audiences the world over, but their ability to marshal large enthusiastic audiences show after show is legion and recognized. Poor Angus

There is nothing quite like a Poor Angus show!

Crowds spontaneously jump out of their seats to dance; drinks flow like a river; new friends are made instantly. No two shows are alike, but every show leaves audiences calling for more. Web Site

Needfire

Blending soaring bagpipes, reeling Celtic fiddles, & tribal didgeridoo with modern rock guitars, bass, and drums, Needfire takes traditional Celtic melodies into a modern rock context with original lyrics and hard-hitting performances. Since 2005 these Texas-based Celt-rockers have headlined and performed at some of North America's largest Celtic, arts, and international festivals. Songs from their first three CD releases have been aired on radio stations and Celtic music programs throughout the U.S. and Europe. Currently the band is on tour in support of their 4th and newest CD "Chasing Orion" performing at festivals coast to coast. On "Chasing Orion" the band once again takes all engineering, producing, and creative decisions into their own hands. Killer songwriting, great guitar work, a rock n’ roll backbeat, catchy fiddle and bagpipe hooks and a mix of eclectic influences drawing equally from rock, folk, Texas blues, and traditional Celtic music, this cd has all the elements that make Needfire one of today’s most distinctive and original bands. The Thogs

The Thogs are a 3 piece duo based in the Grey Bruce area. They stray, on occasion, to other counties and countries. The oft asked question, "What is a Thog?", remains, despite indepth research and exploration, unanswered. This is likely just as well. The Thogs bring individual backgrounds in Scottish traditional, folk, bluegrass, old time and rock, to mix into a sound that is the same, but different.

They are Derek Cunningham on guitar, "moothie" and vocals, Randy Martin on stand up bass, whistles and vocals, and Charlie Steinhoff on mandolin and vocals.
