The Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games' objectives are to:
The Kincardine Scottish Festival seeks to encourage the participation of community through volunteerism. Without the time offered to the Festival by over three hundred volunteers, the Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games could not happen. A year round volunteer Executive provides the structure and momentum for the event. Along with the support of the Event Manager, hours of planning are transformed into a first class event. During the Festival weekend, volunteers are the life-blood of the event. Whether it is selling tickets at a gate, working in the Clachlan Highland Pub Tent or working on Site set-up, hundreds of hours are dedicated to making Festival visitors feel welcome and safe. If you are interested in volunteering,
Many Community Groups lend a helping hand to the Festival. The Kincardine Rotary Club, the Kincardine Theatre Guild, Bluewater Summer Playhouse, the Companions of the Quaich, Kincardine Community Living, the Royal Canadian Legion, Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, are some examples of community involvement.
The partnerships between the Festival, sponsors and volunteers have been the foundation upon which the Festival has been built. The Festival's success is also the result of the community's willingness to share its time and money. The Festival was pleased to have the support of generous sponsors. The Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games proudly acknowledges all contributions of its generous sponsors to the Festival’s overall success and continuous growth.
The Festival has welcomed visitors from across the region, from seven Canadian provinces, ten American States and from England, Scotland and the Philippines. The Festival has received many accolades from visitors and participants, congratulating the Festival on its organization, professionalism and hospitality. One visitor wrote that “this is our third year attending. It is a lovely Games. The people of Kincardine should get a great round of applause for the warm welcome they extend. Kincardine in my opinion is the most charming of the Ontario Highland Games.” Further, one participant commented that, “Kincardine once again proves itself as one of the best small Games on the circuit. The townspeople must be commended.”
The Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games is an award winning Festival that is organized by volunteers. In 2002, the Festival received the 2002 Molson Canadian Festival & Events Ontario Achievement Award for Best Community Involvement. In the same year, the Festival won the Economic Developers Council of Ontario Award for Best Promotional Campaign. The Festival has also been named as one of the top Festivals in Ontario.
The Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games is a not for profit incorporated organization run by a volunteer Board elected by its members. All proceeds are turned back into the operation of the Festival. An Annual Report is available upon request. There is one part time staff member (Event Manager), and the remainder of the work is done by volunteers.
