Piping & Drumming CompetitionEach year the Kincardine Scottish Festival attracts pipers and drummers of world class caliber to the shores of 'Loch Huron" to compete in the band competition circle and in solo piping and drumming. The competition is administered and governed by the rules and regulations of the Pipers and Pipe Band Society of Ontario. The P.P.B.S.O. and the Festival Executive work hand in hand to bring together a schedule of events that is sure to please. The competitions begin at 8:30 a.m. with solo piping and ends with the final massed bands at 5:00 p.m. The bands are designated "Homes" on Princess Street where they can rest and tune up on front lawns. Many bands are invited back by the home owners each year. Kincardine hosts all five grades of competition bands with four bands in Grade 1 (Grade 1 being the top). Due to the Festival's compact but beautiful location, only 25 bands can be accommodated annually. The Festival invites you to take a seat in the bleachers on July 5th to watch the best pipers and drummers battle for top honours. Come and catch the spirit of the Festival! |
